Where, How and Who built WoMA.tv ?
World of Martial Arts Television and WoMA.tv were created and developed by Will Henshaw and August Productions Limited of London in the UK. The idea for a general martial arts based channel was born out of a frustration with traditional TV's lack of interest in martial arts and the knowledge that a huge martial arts community around the world, including me, was being ignored. In the initial stages in 2004/5 I looked at launching a satellite service but the cost and the growth of broadband quickly ruled that out.
After a few false starts choosing a name was easy, it became World of Martial Arts Television or http://www.woma.tv/. I wanted something that naturally encompassed everything and everyone around the globe, so it kind of named itself; as in a world of martial arts television.
One of the distinguishing features about it was that it had to be as much like proper telly, with all its good bits, such as professionally produced films, along with all the best interactive parts of the internet too.
From that point on it was a case of assembling the team, working out what we wanted, what would work, actually doing it and then (the best bit) filming loads of martial arts and talking to tons of martial artists. The process wasn’t easy or quick but we are proud of the results, and hope that we have got it right for the martial arts community to take to their hearts.
